Access Routes - Airports

Brighton is an English seaside resort town located South of London.

Gatwick airport is the closest airport with ease of access direct to Brighton itself so we recommend where possible that you fly into Gatwick and the travel to Brighton.

Alternatively you can also fly into Heathrow Airport although this has a longer transfer time to Brighton.

Car Parking

There are parking facilities available on campus at the university for the duration of the conference. You will need a parking permit - this will be available to download and print closer to the time of the event.

Botanica2018 will take place in the Jubilee Building of the University of Sussex, Brighton, England.

Brighton is a famous seaside resort and charming city on the south coast of England, due south of London (76km/47miles). in 2000, the two neighbouring communities of Brighton and Hove joined together to form the unitary authority of the City of Brighton and Hove.

The city is convenient to London and increasingly popular with media and music types who don't want to live in the capital. It is sometimes called ''London-by-the-sea'' for this reason. One thing is certain: with its bohemian, cosmopolitan, alternative and hedonistic vibe, Brighton is where England's seaside experience goes from cold to cool.

Brighton is home to two universities, The University of Sussex and the University of Brighton. Sussex University is the location for Botanica2018 and is located 4 miles (6km) from the centre of the city. It is extremely accessible by train and bus.

Brighton rocks all year round, but really comes to life during the summer months when tourists, language students and revelers from London pour into the city, keen to explore the city's legendary nightlife, summer festivals, great music and quirky shops. The highlight for the sightseeing visitors is, without a doubt, the weird and wonderful Royal Pavilion, a 19th - century party palace built by the Prince Regent, who kicked off Brighton's enduring love of the outlandish.

Brighton Leisure Time

Brighton beachfront offers a 5.4 mile (8.7km) expanse of shingle beach - a buzzing playground for swimming and beach activities and with so much stunning Sussex countryside literally on the doorstep of the city, there are loads of opportunities for walking and cycling activities on the South Downs and areas beyond Brighton too.
