“Frankincense and Myrrh Sustainability: Truths and Alternative Truths”

Zahra Osman Guelle is co-director of Neo Botanika (Somaliland) and Neo Gr. Limited (UK). These sister entities are suppliers of Somali frankincense/olibanum, myrrh and other local aromatic and medicinal natural products. Since incorporation, the focus of these enterprises has been the formation of secure, ethical and sustainable supply chains for these products, empowering harvester and customer alike. Zahra obtained a BSc degree in Agricultural Economics and a Masters degree in Agricultural Development from the University of Reading, UK. She joined the family company after some years delivering development and humanitarian assistance with the United Nations around the world. In her session she will share about the current situation in Somaliland, potential threats, future threats and beneficial intervention strategies.
